Mazen worked with CEOs at Qatar Steel and Ooredoo to develop and execute the companies’ Vision, Strategy and Business Plans with outstanding results. Between 2002 and 2006, Qatar Steel more than doubled its revenue, while between 2006 and 2010, Ooredoo defended its market position against competition from Vodafone and grew substantially, from 4.4 to 31.8 billion QR.
Mazen was responsible for the most advanced incentive pay system in Qatar. The pay-for-performance system implemented at Qtel is based on the Balanced Scorecard, linking 50% of a manager’s compensation to his/her performance.

Recently, Mazen refreshed the strategy of a major ministry for the next three years as well as established a new system for Strategy Governance to ensure effective implementation and transparent accountability at the Ministry.
Crafted the first Strategy Map with specific KPIs for a large governmental entity in the field of international development.
For the second largest health entity in the country, crafted the first Strategy Map with a comprehensive list of updated and fine-tuned KPIs that are aligned to the country’s Second National Health Strategy.
Mazen has the highest certifications in the Middle East from Harvard professors Drs. Kaplan and Norton in Balanced Scorecard and Office of Strategy Management (OSM).
B.Sc. in Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin 1984 and MBA (with a focus on change management) from the U.K. 1997, with additional postgraduate academic credentials from Carnegie Mellon and INSEAD universities.
